Caiana Luse joined YW Boston in November 2019 as the F.Y.R.E Initiative Program Coordinator. Caiana grew up and attended the Winsor School in Boston, but more specifically hails from Dorchester. Through working as a program assistant at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Frederick Douglass Unity House, Caiana understood the importance of speaking up in solidarity when facing the social injustices of the current oppressive forces. Since she was young, Caiana has vowed to commit to herself to the advancement of her community, which has been reflected through her work with the Mass Dept of Conservation, the Dorchester Community House and her volunteerism with the Museum of African-American History and the Roxbury Youth Orchestra.
Caiana graduated from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in May 2018 with a Degree in Music and a background in Education. Prior to her time at YW Boston, she worked at the Urban Farming Institute as a farmer and production assistant as well as studied classical and jazz violin at the New England Conservatory and Longy School of Music through a program called Project STEP. Caiana is truly honored to be able to have such a well-rounded background and aspires to bring every experience she’s has to those that don’t have the same privilege in order to create a more equitable and inclusive world.
