Background and Community Activities: Cary joined Ropes & Gray in 1996 as a partner and served as former Chairman of the corporate department. He was also co-head of the Antitrust Practice Group and the International Practice Group. Cary began his career as a Trial Attorney with the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice. He has practiced with firms in Washington, D.C., and Boston. Just prior to joining the Ropes & Gray, Cary was a Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of Digital Equipment Corporation. He is a current member of the American Bar Association Antitrust Law Section and the Boston Bar Association; and a former Chairman of MCLE’s Business and Commercial Curriculum Advisory Committee. Cary earned his B.A. in Economics from Michigan State University, and earned his J.D., cum laude, from Columbia University School of Law where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
