TiElla Grimes, M.Ed.
TiElla joined YW Boston in May of 2019 as the F.Y.R.E. Initiative Program Manager. She has over 10 years of experience in community organizing, youth leadership development & gender specific-programming. She works from the lens of communication and connection to provide urban youth with the real world tools they need to actualize themselves and others. She has served on multiple boards as an advocate & advisor for youth development & girls’ empowerment.
TiElla designed her master’s degree at Lesley University in Media, Education and Urban Youth Development. She is a visionary & thought leader in the field of Urban Youth Development & Media Literacy Education. Her praxis is also guided by the inter-connectedness to social-emotional learning via the appliance of transformative creative expression.
Prior to joining the YW Boston, she worked as a Creative Consultant partnering with organizations in the city of Boston to create and deliver dynamic youth leadership events and programs. She has also served as a leading voice in Academia creating communication and media courses as an Adjunct Professor at Wheelock College; she also served as a Faculty Advisor to the Black Student Union.
As a side project, TiElla works as a Transformational Coach providing coaching & mentoring to young women of African Ascent ages 18 and up. In Spring of 2020, she will be relaunching her writer’s group S.W.I.F.T. Movement (Sister Writers Immersing Fully in Truth) which provides a brave space for young women of African Ascent to bravely engage in their own creative expression and self-transformation.
Her goal is to continue sharpening her work on the intersectionalities of identity, communication and social & emotional learning.
