Dort

Rubens Dort

Dr. Rubens Dort is a professor in the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University Graduate School of Education and the Director of STEM Programming at Boston Public Schools. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, a Master of Science degree focused on Secondary Education, Mathematics, and Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners. He also earned a Doctorate in Education, with a focus on Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leadership, from Northeastern University. His current research and teaching focus on educational policy, access, equity, and inclusive practices that simultaneously promote STEM and science and language learning for all students, particularly multilingual learners. He has gained a broad range of experiences as a Mathematics educator, educational researcher, district administrator, and advisor.  Dr. Dort is an experienced educator with a demonstrated history of working with a multilingual and underrepresented group of students in both secondary and higher education industries.

Dr. Rubens Dort is an advocate for multilingual learners, addressing their academic, socio-cultural, and socio-emotional needs. He is skilled in Teaching, Curriculum Design, Coaching, Trio/College Access, Retention Programs, grant writing, and Leadership. Dr. Dort has used his voice, institutional influence, and power to teach and advocate for disadvantaged groups of students, especially multilingual Learners. In his spare time, Dr. Dort enjoys being outside with his family, singing, and playing soccer.
