Rebeca Gómez Báez

(she/her/ella)

Rebeca Gómez Báez is a dedicated advocate and practitioner in the movement for equity and collective liberation. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, her commitment to justice is rooted in her lived experience and a deep-seated passion for uplifting all oppressed peoples. She understands that true liberation requires an intersectional approach—one that acknowledges and addresses the overlapping systems of discrimination.

Her journey in service began early. As a beneficiary of TRIO programs during high school and college, Rebeca experienced firsthand the transformative power of educational support. This inspired a lifelong commitment to repay that opportunity to others, driving her to complete two impactful years of AmeriCorps service with City Year Philadelphia.

With over a decade of professional experience focused on education equity, Rebeca has dedicated her career to programs and nonprofits that empower underrepresented youth. Her leadership has spanned roles at organizations such as City Year and buildOn, where she developed partnerships, designed inclusive programming, and coached teams to strengthen their community impact.

Her dedication to systemic change was further honed through the Aspiring Latino Leader Fellowship with Latinos for Education and her role as Committee Member and Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging committee at City Year Boston. These experiences inspired her to expand her influence beyond the education sector.

Currently, as a Career Specialist and Financial Coach with the City of Boston’s Center for Working Families, she provides bilingual, client-centered guidance to help residents build financial wellness and career pathways. She also operates as a freelance Training Specialist, facilitating workshops on active listening, inclusive leadership, and cultural competency across various sectors.

Rebeca holds a B.A. in History from the University of Connecticut and is pursuing an M.S. in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Coaching at Northeastern University. Guided by the belief that being of service is her driving force, she continues to leverage her skills in facilitation, coaching, and strategic thinking to advance equity—one person, one organization, and one community at a time.
