Jenny LaFleur, Ph.D

Jenny LaFleur, Ph.D. is the Director of Research and Policy at Embrace Boston. Jenny is a sociologist interested in how our lives shape and are shaped by the social spaces that we all share. Her research uses both quantitative and qualitative data to consider how opportunity and wellbeing could be more equitably distributed, with a special focus on the impact of racialization and racism in urban spaces. In addition to spending a decade as an evaluator of education policyand youth development policy in Washington, DC, Jenny has taught in the sociology departments at UMass Boston, at Clark University, and at Brandeis University, where she earned a dual doctorate in sociology and social policy. Additionally, she holds a MA in social policy from Brandeis, an EdM from Harvard University, and a BA in African/African American Studies from Carleton College.
