Dr. Joyya P. Smith
Dr. Joyya P. Smith serves as the Vice President for Diversity, Access & Inclusion at Suffolk University, where she leads strategic efforts to advance equity, expand access, and cultivate a culture of belonging across the institution. In this role, she partners with institutional stakeholders and community leaders to strengthen inclusive practices, develop sustainable initiatives, and foster environments in which all members of the Suffolk community can thrive.
Driven by a deep commitment to leadership development, professional growth, and community building, She designs and supports programs that empower individuals to lead with purpose and authenticity. Her work centers on creating equitable pathways, strengthening cross‑campus collaboration, and building communities of practice that widen opportunities for engagement and success.
Dr. Smith’s professional reach extends beyond campus through her active involvement in several regional and national organizations. She contributes her expertise to the New England Chapter of NADOHE, Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Massachusetts, the ACE Women’s Network of Massachusetts, the Cummings Foundation, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Through these affiliations, she advances collective efforts to address systemic inequities, elevate professionals, and deepen partnerships that drive social impact.
Dr. Smith’s work reflects her belief that meaningful inclusion requires shared responsibility, intentional action, and ongoing opportunities for growth and she is dedicated to advancing these values in every community she serves.
