Is your organization struggling to strike a balance between responding promptly to the need for greater diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and pacing this work to ensure lasting, systemic change? Many of us are familiar with the saying that describes change as a marathon, not a sprint. This is especially true for DEI initiatives, as the urgency to act can sometimes have adverse effects. It could lead us to implement ineffective policies, alienate employees, and cause more harm than good.
Join us for this year’s Elevating Lives event, “How to pace your DEI strategy to ensure meaningful and lasting change,” as we explore how organizations can find the right rhythm for their DEI initiatives. This half-day conference provides the opportunity to network with and learn from other Greater Boston Area businesses that are investing in their DEI work. The event will feature a panel of local business leaders and industry experts, including members of YW Boston’s DEI Services team. Following the panel, you will attend a break-out session aligned with your specific interests and role within your organization.
Opening Panel
Hear from a panel of experts participating in YW Boston’s InclusionBoston program. You’ll hear about their experience in the program and their approach to pacing DEI efforts. This session will include a live Q&A. The panel will be moderated by YW Boston’s President & CEO, Beth Chandler, and will include:
Jay Babbitt, Vice President of Human Resources at Northland Investment Corporation; Heather Magaw, Vice President of People and Culture at Chadwick Martin Bailey; Nia Keith, Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Justice at Mass Audubon; and Louis Chow, Senior Director of Training and Network Development at Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital program.
