6 Boston Businesses to Support this Small Business Saturday
At YW Boston, we know that all of our lives are enriched when we learn from one another and explore new perspectives. In LeadBoston, our executive leadership program, one of the first things the class does is explore Boston neighborhoods. Many participants, including those who have lived in this city all their lives, find themselves in communities they had never been before where they gain new perspectives.
Similarly, we recognize the importance of venturing out and supporting businesses run by women, people of color, and women of color in the Greater Boston Area. That is why we encourage you to #ShopSmall during this Small Business Saturday (as well as year-round) and consider visiting the six places on our list.

1. Boston’s Black-Owned Business Market (BBOB)
BBOB is a free, monthly pop-up market that takes place in District Hall. Each month, over 30 local black business owners, artisans, and entrepreneurs set up shop from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The next BBOB pop-up market will take place on Saturday, December 15.
2. Breath & Imagination at the Lyric Stage Company
Taking place at the Lyric Stage Company theater in Back Bay, Breath & Imagination is a play with music that chronicles the amazing journey of Roland Hayes, one of the first world-renowned African-American classical vocalists. The show will run from November, 30 – December, 23.
3. nathálie
This wine bar focuses on stocking small production, natural wines produced by women. Owner Haley Fortier also runs the haley.henry wine bar near Downtown Crossing. Nathálie wine bar is open Monday through Saturday.
4. Frugal Bookstore
This community bookstore located in Roxbury has a passion of promoting literacy with children, teens and adults. Frugal Bookstore often holds events such as girls’ book clubs and author meetups, including a recent signing featuring Martin Terrell, author of Without A Compass, hosted by his daughter Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley.
5. Tres Gatos
Boston’s first full-service restaurant, book, and music store, Tres Gatos is committed to close the gap between front of the house and back of the house restaurant workers. As part of their bookstore competent, Tres Gatos–owned by Maricely Pérez-Alers and David Doyle– holds regular book club events.
6. 4 Corners Yoga & Wellness
Co-founders Christine Rose and Karuna O’Donnell have nurtured the idea of a body positive, welcoming, accessible and affirming community of wellbeing. The mission of 4 Corners Yoga + Wellness is to serve and support the Dorchester community and surrounding neighborhoods in taking charge of their health and wellbeing.
