YW Boston welcomes 2017 LeadBoston class

40 local executives begin year-long socially responsible leadership program  

BOSTON, Mass – January 11, 2017 – YW Boston welcomed 40 mid-career executives from all sectors across Boston into the LeadBoston program today. The year-long executive leadership program grows Boston’s executives into a cross-sector network of socially responsible leaders. The Class of 2017 started the year with an orientation session today at YW Boston, and to be followed by a two-day retreat session next month to immerse themselves in the curriculum and team building. 

The 2017 class is made up of leaders from all sectors, genders, and racial/ethnic backgrounds. The class contains leaders from Eversource and TD Garden for the first time, as well as leaders from long-time partners Massachusetts General Hospital, Holland & Knight, Goodwin Procter, Boston Police Department, and Boston Public Schools, and leaders from a variety of other partnering organizations. Over 1,000 leaders have already graduated from the LeadBoston program, and the alumni network is active in the Boston community. Notable alumni include: Peter DeBruin, Vice President at State Street Corporation; Simone Azevedo, Vice President at Genzyme Corporation; Doug Banks, Editor in Chief at Boston Business Journal; Darryl Settles, Owner of Darryl’s Kitchen; Felix Arroyo Sr., Former Boston City Councilor; Kenneth Green, Chief of MBTA Transit Police; Stephanie Pollack, MA Secretary of Transportation; Wendy Foster, President and CEO at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay; and Charlie Rose, Senior Vice President at City Year.
