Iván Espinoza-Madrigal

Executive Director, Lawyers for Civil Rights

Iván Espinoza-Madrigal is the Executive Director of Lawyers for Civil Rights. Iván has filed and won dozens of life-changing cases on a wide range of civil rights issues, including racial justice, immigrants’ rights, and LGBT/HIV equality. A summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he received a Juris Doctor from NYU School of Law. Iván has also been recognized as one of Boston’s 100 Most Influential People of Color. He recently received the Boston Bar Association’s Beacon Award, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Martin Luther King Award in Social Justice. The Boston Business Journal included Iván in its “40 Under 40” list in 2018.

Brief Intro:

I am proud to be a part of the amazing Stand Against Racism initiative and to help advance this powerful movement in our communities. I selected a 60-second lecture I gave at the University of Pennsylvania focusing on the civil rights challenges we are facing in the current social and political climate.
