Erik joined YW Boston in December 2022 as an Advancement Associate. He is responsible for is responsible for maintaining YW’s donor database and assisting with donor relations. A recent transplant to Boston from Saint Paul, Minnesota, Erik is incredibly excited to use this role as a means to grow, to learn, and to become engaged with his new community and home.

Prior to joining YW, Erik worked at various nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities metro area. Most recently Erik worked in the Student Services office at MacPhail Center for Music, a nonprofit music center which boasts some famous alumni such as Prince and Lawrence Welk.

A lifelong lover of geography and global politics, this interest has brought Erik all over the globe for various work and study opportunities. Such opportunities include working with Refugee Aid Serbia in Belgrade to conduct research and construct policy recommendations on living conditions of migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees on the Balkan Route. Additionally, Erik was also selected as a finalist of the World Affairs Council of America’s 2020 Qatar Essay Contest, which allowed him to travel to Doha to meet with leaders, stakeholders, journalists, and more to conduct primary research on US-Middle East foreign policy. With 30 countries traveled to thus far, Erik hopes to expand on that number in the coming years!

Erik graduated with distinction from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and a minor and certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language.
