John is the Global Head Corporate Finance & Infrastructure at Manulife, a global life insurance group with 35,000 employees, that includes Boston-based John Hancock, as well as insurance companies in Canada and East Asia.  John leads investment teams in Boston, Toronto, London, and Hong Kong that invest globally for the Manulife life insurance companies.  John has served as an executive sponsor of Manulife’s veteran’s club in the US, and been a leader with Employee Resource Groups helping gender and racial diversity flourish at the company. 

Prior to joining Manulife through their US infrastructure investing team in 2001, Mr. Anderson worked for ten years in the New York and London offices of JP Morgan Chase, focused on infrastructure finance work, in both developed (United States, France, Germany) and developing (Croatia, Turkey, Colombia, Russia) economies.  Before entering the private sector, John served as an Intelligence Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency during the Cold War. 

Mr. Anderson holds an MBA from Georgetown University and received his BA in Economics from The University of Chicago.  He speaks French, Serbo-Croatian, German, Spanish, and Russian at an intermediate level, and would not be mistaken for a native speaker in any of these languages.
